30: 18 ~My Happy Birthday Comes!~
so what do you think? too long? good groups? not following theme enough? I always forget who are soloists and who's in groups and what songs are good performed xD
Also, I made this up on the fly D: But I hope you like it. I can already picture what the stage would look like and what dresses and things would be like. It'd be amazing, in my opinion~
1. What was the first Japanese song that you ever listened to?
The first was probably. . . This song we had to sing in 3rd grade chorus was in Japanese. It was a folk song called Sakura.
2. Did it inspire you to like that group/singer, or did it turn you away?
I didn't even like music yet, so I dunno xD
3. What is the one song that you have been listening to for the longest time?
One song...? I'll never turn down Koi ING or Matsu wa by Morning Musume and W respectively And I first heard those about a year and a half ago.
4. What group/singer have you liked the longest?
W was my first official H!P group (I had heard part of KoiING in an AMV once xD) and Tommy february6 was my first J-Pop group
5. What is the song with the most plays on your itunes/media player?
6. Is that song your favorite?
7. If not, what is?
8. Is there any one group that you can listen to all/most of the songs by? If so, who?
9. What is your favorite agency?
H!P and Studio48
10. What is your favorite group/singer?
Morning Musume is my favourite group and Tomoko Kawase is my favourite singer~ (she's tommy february6 and heavenly6That's right, I'm reviewing it =D
Some Boys! Blog put the entire single for download so I downloaded it and while the entire single is Fresh in my Mind I'll review it for the masses so they know whether it's worth downloading or buying or whatever. Honestly, I don't think this review will sway your opinion, but it's always nice to know what you're getting, right? xD
All right, I'll review it track by track and give it a score out of 10.
But first let's talk about the group and the purpose of the single.
High King was made to promote for Morning Musume's 2008 musical with Takarazuka Revue, Cinderella. The Single is their first (and possibly only?) single to do so as the musical starts in August so they've got to get to work for the actual musical.
Now let's talk about the Songs.
C/C (Cinderella/Complex) is the A-side of the single and after an initial weirded out by the single, It started to grow on me after a few listens to the radio rip and then I fell in love when I saw the entire PV. It sounds like something I'd hear at my Homecoming, and makes me want to be a DJ so I can play it at my Homecoming. It's relatively dance-able and can get stuck in your head, especially during the chorus. The vocals are decent, although sometimes the backing vocals can overpower the singer's voice. It's got an almost Arabian feel at first. More Aladdin than Cinderella, but then it kinda changes. Saki and Maimi's deep voices are like polar opposite to the 3rd lesser Member, Maeda Yuuka's voice, which is your average 13 year old H!P voice, almost like a younger version of Momoko's Buono! voice. The song is good, but the only thing I really don't like about is that the background vocals overpower the singer's vocals through a lot of the song.
8/10
Kioku no Meiro is the B-side. When the song started and I heard Ai Takahashi sing 2 lines, I immediately thought of it as an anime opening. The kind that starts slowly with simple, upbeat vocals and then breaks to a synthesized interlude before starting the first verse. It's vaguely reminiscent of Genki+ from Morning Musume's 8th album, Sexy 8 Beat, only with less of an 'intense' feeling. I initially expected for Ai and Reina to lead the song like they did in C/C, but I was extremely surprised when Maeda Yuuka started to sing for the second time and got an entire chorus to herself, giving her the most or second most solo lines in the song. The song is great, in my opinion, and kind of strays from some recent H!P b-sides, with a serious but happpy tone, instead of the happy-go-lucky Sono Bamen de Bibiccha Ikenai Jan! of Morning Musume and Darling, I LOVE YOU of Berryz and C-ute.
9/10
Overall, the single has a refreshing feeling. Hopefully it'll start a trend with Hello! Project singles and groups and we'll hear more songs like Kioku no Meiro or C/C.
8.5/10 Overall
. . . , Apparently.
After the big news of her being on Haromoni@, I bookmarked her blog and check up on it occasionally and apparently she's become a recording artist named Umi (after the 'sea' in her name, Chelsea )
Her first recorded song is called Mayonaka no Sayonara which means "Midnight Goodbye" and was composed by Harada Ken who has also composed for Ayumi Hamasaki and BoA. She wrote the lyrics herself.
In her blog she gave a link to her recording artist MySpace and I'll give it to you as well!
http://myspace.com/chelseaumi/
The song has an extremely techno feel and is kinda catchy and her voice fits the song, but then I wonder. . . how did she get an Ayumi Hamasaki Composer to write music for her? That I'm not sure about, but then again, she was a model in Japan and so anything may have happened. But it's kinda cool, so I'm going to watch her.
She also said she'd post more songs that she both composed and wrote the lyrics to. I'm curious to see if she gets picked up by anyone, especially since Tsunku knows who she is and she said her dream was to be a Morning Musume member.
She gets a thumbs up for her song preview and an add to my MySpace! I hope to see more good things from her =D
I'm so happy! I knew she'd be back! That is another check off my list of what I wish would happen to H!P this year.
It's in another post on this blog, so yeah.
Also, MAKO'S BACK.
And apparently she's a barista? (That's what Misa's Mako blog says at least)
But that doesn't matter! Cause she's amazing in every possible way and she's adorable and looks much better with brown and black hair than blonde in my opinion.
BUT SHE'S BACK.
And that's all that matters.
So to celebrate, a clip of Ogawa Makoto learning the language that she can speak now =D
According to The PPN and Hello! Project's website, Ayaya's 10th single will be called きずな (kizuna), which means "Bonds" in Japanese. It will be released May 21, 2008 and the Single V release date is TBA.
You can never trust H!P by names (Resonant Blue, for example), but I've got the feeling Ayaya's handing us another ballad. I knew someone would release a ballad this year, but Ayaya again? If I'm not mistaken, her last single was a ballad and sold poorly for Aya. It was number 16th place and only sold a total of 13,262 copies.
I'm hoping the name deceives us again, because I, for one, would absolutely LOVE another Momoiro Kataomoi or LOVE Namida Iro. Also, please don't say it's her last single. She's one of the only soloists I've attempted to listen to, so let her stay around longer!
I'm hoping someone will sell a miracle single, preferably Morning Musume or a soloist to bring H!P to the limelight again. Please, Tsunku, write another LOVE Machine!
I've heard all sorts of crap about how people don't like Resonant Blue, or they love Resonant Blue, or Manoeri should sing Resonant Blue, or Eri's graduating because of the "Scandal." And here's what I have to say to everyone:
SHUT UP.
I will be the first to admit that Mikan was amazing. I loved it. It brought me back to the Koko ni Iruzee days, when the members were just skipping around singing about happiness and the importance of love and stuff, not the stuff they sung about in the MoMusu 'dry spell' that I refer to as the period between Ambitious! and Onna ni Sachi Are. I really hated Kanashimi Twilight and Aruiteru. Egao was good, but it reminds me of the color grey. Those three singles were just fuzzy and kind of a small coffee stain on on the pages of Morning Musume, to me at least. That was 'sexy Morning Musume,' which, if I'm not mistaken, hasn't really worked for them in the past. Tanpopo was 'classy' in it's sexiness for the first generation, but it slowly evolved into a cute but mature sound for Kago, Niigaki and Konno. v-u-den tried the 'sexy' look and their sales plummeted after their third single. Goto Maki has just been a bad memory for Hello! Project, as of late. So I would like to say to everyone who's heard the radio rip for Resonant Blue:
CALM DOWN.
WAIT FOR THE PV.
IT'LL ALL BE OKAY. HELLO! PROJECT WON'T COLLAPSE.
Right now, Wonderful Hearts are all that Hello! Project has. I desperately hope they get a new soloist or group in the near future to liven up Wonderful Hearts, or even a cheerful soloist to slap the Elder Club in the face and make them see that life doesn't stop at 22.
And as a special treat, I'll give you an AKB48 PV.
And it's another Kirarin unit. With Kikkawa Yuu, Koharu Kusumi and Kitahara Sayaka (who is a Miyabi clone xD )
WTF TSUNKU. I'M SICK OF KIRARIN. LET KIRARIN DIE. LET YOUR EGGS DO SOMETHING IN A PERMANENT GROUP.
I'm done ranting, but that's so annoying D<
In other news, I'm starting a dub group! If you'd like more informationg, go to It's Website! I'm looking for five members of a group and one soloist =w= But I won't stop there >.>;;
And that's it for interesting stuff.
But I am starting to like AKB48 better. Especially Yuuhi wo Miteiru ka?
I just can't get tired of that song for some reason.
But I won't give stop listening to H!P and Morning Musume and Berryz are still my favourite units.
Some Boys! Blog has had a busy day, apparently. 3 bits of news on one day all concerning Hello! Project. And I will report them to you guys!
First, C-ute has already announced it's 5th major label single, 9th overall. It will be released April 23rd, the same day as v-u-den's final single, Nanni mo Iwazu ni I LOVE YOU. It's a lot faster than anyone expected, but it makes sense, as they must have recorded LALALA Shiawase no Uta in late 2007 or early January '08. It makes a lot more sense than THE Possible!'s 9th single, which came out of no where.
The next bit of news is the mysterious H!P group Milky Way, which showed up on Fujisan.com just an hour or so ago. No official announcements have been made, but their first single is called Anata Boshi. The single will be released April 30th. My bet is that Fukuda Kanon and a few other eggs will be in Milky Way, as a few months ago on Kanon's blog she said that Tsunku was going to do something special involving her.
The last bit of news is Canaria Club's 4th single "Nishiki Kazare", which will be released on April 9th.
Also, congrats to C-ute for getting #4 on the daily Oricon Charts!
"17sai no Sayounara (ARRIVEDERCI) -- Michishige Sayumi and LinLin"O_O That really caught my attention! But that's exactly what I love... read more
